You have Buhari as your president; you still have to survive and be able to take care of your family yet, you want to carry an extra baggage of handling an abusive partner? The country, Nigeria, is massively abusive and mentally draining on its own. Talk more of having to stay put with an abusive partner.

Any article that gives you tips or guidelines on how to properly deal with or handle an abusive partner is lying to you. You can't change anybody because of love. If your partner is the abusive type, it's their job to work on and manage themselves. Not yours!
My dear, pack your bags and run. If you have a partner that deems it fit to abuse you in any way, it doesn't matter how many times they apologise and promise not to abuse you again, there's a 70% chance that they're going to do it again. So my dear, you have to walk. A partner than can abuse you is damaged somewhere. And, it's their job to go back home and heal themselves to become a better person.
